King of the Jews born in

Bethlehem stable

Joseph's wife Mary births Jesus the Christ

The prophesied King of the Jews was born to a common couple in a Bethlehem stable. Jesus Christ was supernaturally conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit at the time when Mary, daughter of Heli, was engaged to Joseph, son of Jacob.

That’s the only explanation of how a virgin could become pregnant!

Although a shocked Mary and a confused Joseph were initially reluctant to undertake their parental responsibilities, they gladly accepted the roles conferred upon them after the Angel of the Lord revealed God’s plan to the couple.

Like any responsible parents, Joseph and Mary had a job to do –– and that was to love, nurture and take care of their firstborn Son. After His birth, the infant Jesus was cleaned. Rubbed with salt –– to dry, strengthen and purify the skin –– Jesus was wrapped with long, narrow strips of cloth, in accordance with Hebrew custom. So tightly was the Baby swathed it was difficult to see His tiny, cute limbs.

Jesus must have looked like an Egyptian mummy, but this was the common newborn child caring practice.

Jesus’ eyes were the only physical features visible from the tightly-woven strips of cloth that enveloped His Body.

Warm, welcome and more radiant as the eastern star that so illuminated His birth, were the eyes which attracted many witnesses to view Him lying in a Bethlehem manager.

If Jesus had been born to wealthy Hebrew parents, the bandages swathed around His tiny Body would have been fine scarves or shawls.

The Son of God became the Son of Man that day, many have hypothesized throughout history, when Jesus Christ was born in a Bethlehem stable like an earthly commoner rather than that of a Heavenly King.
