WHAT
IS THE TESTAMENT SPECTATOR?
The
Testament Spectator is a tabloid-size newspaper that reports in contemporary
manner the characters and events appearing in The Holy Bible.
WHY
DID YOU WRITE THIS?
To
make The Holy Bible more reader-friendly.
WHO
IS IT FOR?
The
Testament Spectator is for anyone who likes to read newspapers. Pastors,
parishioners, converts, Sunday School teachers, Bible study leaders/students,
youth leaders, parochial school instructors, administrators and their pupils
as well as the layperson plus those who love history (particularly Bible
history) would find The Testament Spectator informative, interesting and
in many cases entertaining.
CAN
READERS LOOK UP SCRIPTURES FOR EACH STORY?
Yes,
scriptural attribution is important. On page 48, all 125 stories (except
those articles that summarize Jesus' entire life) are cited with scriptures
so the reader can reference what they're reading. Scripturally-sourced
from the King James Version Bible and New International Version, The Testament
Spectator is informative, educational and for some people, it may make
their Bible reading less intimidating. A creative method in communicating
God's Holy Word, The Testament Spectator was enjoyable to research, report
and write and readers will find it equally enjoyable to read.
WHAT
IS THE JESUS CHRIST EDITION ABOUT?
Written
in current events style of today's newspaper, the Jesusaic (Ja Sue A Ick)
Amalgamated Four-Gospel Edition is a 48-page, 125-story newspaper that
reports the life, times and teachings of Jesus Christ. The Testament Spectator
contains 117-authored news, features, plus character-introspective narrative
stories (articles have headlines, kickers and pullquotes), including four
letters to the editor. Published verbatim in The Testament Spectator from
the King James Version is Jesus' passionate Temple Courts speech (Mt. 23:2-39).
The end-time prophecy (Mk. 13:5-37) and His three Mount of Olives discourses
(Jn. 14:1-16:33) are published verbatim in THE HOLY BIBLE, NEW INTERNATIONAL
VERSION (NIV), copyright 1973, 1978, 1984 International Bible Society,
used by permission by Zondervan Bible publishers.
HAS
THIS BEEN DONE BEFORE?
Don't
know, but in the 400 years that newspapers first appeared in Europe, the
Jesusaic Amalgamated Four-Gospel Edition might be the first time anyone
has ever attempted to paraphrase the King James translation and chronologically
present an amalgamated version of Jesus Christ's life into a handy, portable
newspaper.
ARE
THERE FUTURE EDITIONS PLANNED?
Yes.
From the Jesusaic Amalgamated Four-Gospel Edition, a four-page John the
Baptist edition, an eight-page Resurrection edition and 24-page Crucifixion/Resurrection
edition is under production. But just as a newspaper on the life of Jesus
Christ has been produced, future, mega-page, multistory editions will cover
the lives of Moses and David, respectively. There are a plethora of editions
can be covered on a variety of Old/New Testament stories; from Noah, Abraham,
Isaac, and Jacob to Job, Ruth, Daniel and other Bible characters, themes,
kings, battles and events. Editions will be published upon completion.
ARE YOU GOING TO REWRITE THE ENTIRE BIBLE IN NEWSPAPER?
Yes, that's the goal. The intent is to rewrite as much of the entire Bible that
can be rewritten in newspaper. Admittedly, some of the poetic, prophetic
books and Pauline letters might be difficult to tailor into a newspaper
form, but there are plenty of law, history and other material in the Old
Testament and early church history and end-time prophecy from the New Testament
to produce an infinite number of Testament Spectator editions.
HOW
DID YOU CONCEIVE THIS BIBLE NEWSPAPER IDEA?
I
first was exposed to this concept long before showing an interest in journalism
or knowing that I could write. During the early 70s when I was a teenager,
my parents, Ronald F. Owens and Dora L. Owens, bought the "Chronicle News
of the Past" from a local Bible bookstore. This two-volume, hardback bound
book, published in 1968 by the Reubeni Foundation of Jerusalem, Israel,
presented Bible stories from Abraham through the Middle Ages. Resembling
an actual newspaper, "Chronicle News of the Past" was "compiled by scholars
and research experts in archeology, anthropology, religion, philology,
ancient geography and world history."
This
Bible newspaper concept was rekindled in me more than 20 years later. I
was a student of Judith Phillips,
when she taught at Capital Bible Institute (now Capital Bible College)
at Sacramento, California's Capital Christian Center. During this time,
I was pursuing a Ministerial of Arts Degree.

HOW CAN I OBTAIN A COPY OF THE TESTAMENT SPECTATOR?
Currently, The Testament Spectator is out of stock. In the past, I've
sold The Testament Spectator. But because I have a heart to share God's
word in newspaper, I've given away more Testament Spectator copies
throughout the years than I've sold. Unfortunately I don't have the
resources to continue to personally finance printing The Testament
Spectator. Plans are under development marketing 12 Testament Spectator
editions in the future. Such editions include four page issues on Moses
and the exodus, Joshua and the battle of Jericho, and Gideon leading 300
Israelites against the 150,000 Midianites, Amalekites plus their Eastern
allies. There's also a six-page edition on the life of Samson under
development. A four-page "David and Goliath edition and a 16-page
"Davidic" edition which covers the entire book of I. Samuel is almost
ready for press. Also nearing completion is a two-page issue on the book
of Jonah. In addition to being able to obtain in the future the
out-of-stock 48-page "Jesusaic Amalgamated Four-Gospel Edition," people
will also be able to receive three other issues from this large
publication. These three smaller editions include a 24-page
"Crucifixion/Resurrection" issue, a four-page "Christmas" and "John the
Baptist" editions. I am in the process of rewriting the entire life of
David in newspaper. This is an expansion of the four-page "David and
Goliath" and 16-page I. Samuel draft editions. Upon completion, this
"Davidic" edition will be a complete rewrite of I. Samuel, II. Samuel
and I. Chronicles Chapter 10-29.
It is unfortunate that as an interested reader of The Testament
Spectator I don't have any more copies available. I'm seeking the Lord
for help, direction and resources how to expand this ministry to serve
you. God placed The Testament Spectator concept on my heart more than 16
years ago and I know He will help me promulgate the Gospel and His Word...
...But during the interim, if you're interested in obtaining single or
bulk Testament Spectator copies, please call (916) 491-4900 or e-mail
ron@testamentspectator.com. I would appreciate hearing or receiving an
e-mail from you. I solicit your prayers. Thank you for your interest in
and support of The Testament Spectator ministry.
